Holy Week Services
Palm Sunday
March 24
We begin in the courtyard and re-enact Jesus's triumphal entry into Jerusalem; then we hear the story of Jesus's passion (his suffering and death).
8am Eucharist with incense
1030am Holy Eucharist with choir
Maundy Thursday
March 28
We remember the Last Supper when Jesus washed his disciples feet and instituted the Holy Eucharist. No public footwashing, but volunteers will act out the footwashing during the reading of the Gospel. At the end of the service, the altar is stripped bare in preparation for Good Friday, and all depart in quiet.
630pm
Good Friday
March 29
We read the story of the Passion of our Lord, and we venerate the cross by which God won for us our salvation. Optional: you can come forward to kiss, touch, or bow to a crucifix. We share Holy Communion and depart in silence. The reading of the Passion story will include selections from Bach's "St. Matthew's Passion".
7pm
Holy Saturday
March 30
Brief 20 min service of Morning Prayer
10 am
Easter Vigil
March 30
Saturday night after Sunday, we mark the transition from death to resurrection with a dramatic service of fire, candlelight, praise, and Holy Eucharist. We begin in darkness, like the women who went to Jesus's tomb before sunrise, and light a fire and the Easter candle. We all process into the church to hear stories of God's salvation, and we renew our baptisms before sharing Holy Eucharist.
8pm
Easter Sunday
March 31
8am service with incense
1030am Holy Eucharist with choir
Egg hunt and free family pictures will follow the 1030am service!
