St. Francis is a church in the Episcopal tradition in Rio Rancho. We were founded and consecrated as a place of worship in 1995 by Bishop Terence Kelshaw. We worshiped in a mobile unit at our location for a few years, until we had raised enough funds and had sufficient numbers for a building, which was built in 2000-2001.
We have an ancient, beautiful, and liturgical style worship, but with modern language and music. We leave our cell phones off, silenced, or in the car, and are fully present to God and each other. We share Holy Communion every Sunday, for it binds us all together in love - no matter our backgrounds, economic/job status, family status, or anything else.
We are called to be a blessing to the world and our neighbors. So collecting food for those in need and going out to serve in various ways are part of our regular practices!
In all this, we find joy in God being glorified.
We are part of the Diocese of the Rio Grande in The Episcopal Church, a group of Christians committed to ancient worship and living out the way of Jesus in a modern world. Our worship has its roots in the earliest days of the church - but it is also relevant and inspiring. And our belief in Jesus leads us to connect with real people, and to welcome all - because God is there in every person's life. In The Episcopal Church, women can be priests, gay and lesbian marriages are embraced, children and teenagers take leadership roles, and all people are invited to be active members of the community.
