Notes for our Christian journey together

“When a person has found something which he prefers to life itself, he for the first time has begun to live.” (G.K Chesterton) Dear Friends, I write to you as we anticipate the coming of God with us. I imagine you, like me, stand on tiptoes again this year looking for the One who comes. It is that One, Jesus, who told us what we could prefer to life itself—the kingdom! Our faith teaches us to say “Come, Lord Jesus.” And to believe that he does and has and will; always come. Because we are faithful, we know and proclaim this truth. We, like the Franciscans, believe that “Incarnation is already redemption.” Come Lord Jesus, Come. What does it mean to be faithful for those of us who await Christ’s coming here in the sanctuary at St. Francis Episcopal Church? It means that we remain present, present at worship, present in our small groups, present in discussion, and in prayer. It means that we remain present to the work and the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, who guides us as we move into the newness of “what’s next.” It means that we remain present to the wonder of what is to come, as well as reverence for what has been. It means we remain faithful with our time, talent and treasure. If you normally pledge to St. Francis Episcopal Church, please continue that pledge, if you normally “give” please continue to give, and if you have never done either, perhaps consider a special gift this Christmas Eve. Our Advent anticipation ends at 6:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025; when we gather to remember and re-member the moment in which God enters creation, clothed as a little child. To ponder this event with awe and to promise to partner with the One who comes to build that something which we prefer to life itself – the kingdom. In anticipation of Christ’s Mass, Leslie The Rev. Leslie M. St. Louis Interim Rector

St Francis Episcopal ChurchJesus's vision for the kingdom of God is that every person belongs, every person is valued, and every person has something unique to contribute. Through baptism we become the family of God, and this family can bless the whole world, by demonstrating the Love of God and inviting all into that Love. This page is here to show the many ways that we are living out the Way of Love. Come and be a part of something bigger and more beautiful than any one of us could imagine. Archives
